Student Backyard Party FAQ

Q: What is the date and location of the event?

A: Friday 1st March 2024, at Bar on the Hill. Doors open from 7pm.

Q: Is there a fee for the event? Do I need to register?

A: $10 entry on the door, you do not need to register for this event.

Q: Do I need to be 18+ to attend the Backyard Party and afterparty?

A: Yes, you must be 18+ to attend both Backyard Party, and if you are interested in going to King Street afterwards.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: A physical copy of your ID (either a license, or passport) – you cannot bring a photograph of your ID.

Q: What type of food and drinks will be provided?

A: There will be a free sausage sizzle at the event (until we run out). There will be student-priced alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks that can be purchased at the bar.

Q: Is there a dress code?

A: We strongly encourage you to dress up in your best bucket hat, silly shirt and crocs (and mullet, if you’ve got one!). Please note that you must be wearing enclosed shoes to enter the venue also.

Q: Is the venue accessible for people with mobility challenges?

A: Yes, the Venue is fully accessible.

Q: Can I bring my non-student friend?

A: Yes, you may bring a non-student friend to this event. However each non-student MUST be accompanied by a current UoN student.

Q: Travel and transport details:

A: There will be a free bus on rotation between 10:30pm-12am for anyone who would like to get safely into town (to go to King Street Hotel, or just to get back home). 


Travel & Transport

  • The staff carpark behind Bar on the Hill will be open for public drop off and pick up.
  • Parking is available throughout the university and is free after 5pm. We strongly encourage students to have a Plan B for your return home should you be engaging in the consumption of alcohol. Options may include the UoN security shuttle, public buses, taxis or rideshare options.

Arrival and Entry

  • Doors open from 7pm on Friday. Please ensure you have your government-issued ID, student ID and card to pay entry fee ($10 entry).

Accessibility

  • Bar on the Hill is a fully accessible venue. All floor surfaces are flat within the building, accessible bathrooms are available and a ramp to access the venue.
