NM:PM – Go Rainbow Your Way for IDAHOBIT

May 17 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

IDAHOBIT is the anniversary of May 17, 1990, when the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases. While the letters in IDAHOBIT stand for “International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia”, it has become a day against LGBTQIA+ discrimination in general, including everyone under the rainbow umbrella. The Newcastle Museum has organised this event to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and to encourage inclusion.

🗓️ Date: Friday 17 May
⏰ Time: 5-9pm
📍Location: Newcastle Museum, 6 Workshop Way, Newcastle.

👩‍🦽‍➡️ Accessibility: The venue is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilets. For any other concerns, please email enquiries@newcastlemusem.com.au
🔞 NOTE: 18+ event
💵 Cost: Free!

The UON Queer Guild will be holding a stall at this event; come say hi and get to know them! This is a great opportunity to access LGBTQIA+-specific resources, learn about the history of the LGBTQIA+ community at the university, and to have your say about what events you’d like to see at Pride Week, as well as any changes or events you’d like to see.

As well as ACON, a wide range of LGBTQIA+ artists and creatives, and more, The Hunter Rainbow History Group will be among the markets, offering mini oral history tasters where they record people’s life stories for 10 mins.

There will also be a range of LGBTQIA+ people performing throughout the night, including;
Izzy Lyric Wilson
Foxxe Faux
Orlando Gloom
Pole Dance Dave
Poetry reading open mic hosted by Sappho Queers
DJ Queerio
And, last but not least, your host; Timberlina

Finally, there will also be badge making, and a chill out zone for anyone who needs a minute away from the hustle and bustle.
