Responsibilities

The President acts as Chair of the Board and of the SRC, presiding over meetings, ensuring compliance with the constitution and Terms of Reference, overseeing the performance of elected Representatives, and ensuring the SRC genuinely represents the voice of all students at the University of Newcastle.

In addition to the overarching functions of the SRC, it is the responsibility of the President to be the first point of contact for the University in promoting student partnership and decision-making. This may include being part of University Project Teams, a member of the University Council, or a part of other University committees, to provide a genuine voice for students in key areas of University decision-making.

The President’s primary role is to lead UNSA in representing, campaigning for, and serving the needs of students at the University of Newcastle.

The President works closely with the UNSA General Manager and other UNSA staff, as well as with the other members of the Executive to achieve these responsibilities.

Luka Harrison

Hi, my name is Luka and I’m your UNSA President for 2021! It was awesome to be a part of UNSA as we launched last year, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve with our members this year.

Outside of UNSA, I’m a bit of a sports nut, so you’ll probably find me watching or reading about sport. I’m a diehard Essendon supporter, but I’ll watch just about any kind of sport!

I’m currently in my third year, studying a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws, and I’ve loved my time so far at the University.

I want UNSA to be an organisation that provides great services for students and stands up for them. So, please reach out to us if you have any issues, or ideas.
