On Monday at noon the women and allies of Newcastle will gather in Civic Park to March4Justice. March4Justice has been established by the women of Australia to protest the Australian Parliament’s ongoing abuse and discrimination of women. It is their intention to amass their anger and resources to march on Parliament to have their voices heard on Parliament's ongoing arrogance and tone-deaf behaviour. The march on Parliament is being supported by protests in other capital cities and regional towns, like the one in Newcastle.
UNSA stands in solidarity with the Newcastle March4Justice protest. Members of UNSA’s Board, SRC and staff will be in attendance at the Newcastle leg of this march in solidarity with all women.
UNSA also supports the petition being presented to Parliament on Monday at the Canberra march. UNSA believes survivors and the call for action to end gendered violence, especially in the workplace, as women should feel safe in all environments. Our politicians must set a better example by changing the culture that for too long has created unsafe environments for women. Parliament House must set a higher standard for themselves and workplaces across Australia.
We urge all UNSA members and students of Newcastle to attend the March4Justice.
The full petition may be found here.
