The Women’s Collective (or WoCo) is a student-led, safe and empowering space for women, non-binary and women-identifying students at the University of Newcastle.

Description

The Women’s Collective – or WoCo, as it is often (affectionately) called – is a student-led, safe and empowering space for women, non-binary and women-identifying students at the University of Newcastle. Together with the Convenor, the Collective is dedicated to the advancement of educational opportunities for women and non-binary students, as well as the provision of support and social networks to help make your time at University the best that it can be! It is also trans-inclusive and is dedicated to anti-colonial and intersectional feminism.

The Collective aims to channel its representation and advocacy towards the conservation of rights, the creation of educational and social opportunities, and a more inclusive and respectful UON. It’s also a great place for students to get together with passionate, like-minded people, have empowering conversations and share in a judgement-free zone!

WoCo also hosts a mix of social and activist events (both on campus and online) like movie nights and crafternoons, and will participate in local and national advocacy movements. There are so many opportunities to get involved in the things that interest you and make new friends along the way!

Via input and collaboration, the Collective also plays a critical role in the SRC and student representation more broadly, ensuring that the needs and perspectives of women, non-binary and women-identifying students are considered in UNSA's future programs, initiatives and advocacy.
